Answers to real MECCHA CHAMELEON player questions about multiplayer, Workshop maps, painting, player count, Reverse Chicken Race, controls, lag, and public lobby issues.

Last checked: 2026-07-10
Scope: This FAQ is based on the Steam store page, Steam News, Steam discussions, Steam community guides, and recent review themes. Live price, patches, and server behavior can change.

Is MECCHA CHAMELEON multiplayer?

Yes. Steam lists Online PvP, and the official description says you can play with friends or with people you do not know.

How many players does MECCHA CHAMELEON support?

Steam’s description says the maximum number of players depends on the host’s network environment and recommends 2–10 players. This may change with future playtests or updates.

What do Hiders do?

Hiders paint their white bodies to blend into the stage. Hiding depends on the hiding spot, pose, paint quality, material match, and ability to avoid a human-looking silhouette.

What do Seekers do?

Seekers try to find every Hider within the time limit. Good Seekers look for shapes, brightness differences, reflection mismatches, and things that do not belong in the scene.

Does MECCHA CHAMELEON support Steam Workshop?

Yes. Steam lists Workshop support, and the Workshop page describes “Meccha Original Map” items that can be used with the game.

Why can’t I join public servers?

Steam discussions and reviews include player reports about public server joining problems, being kicked back to the menu, no servers appearing, Steam invite issues, and custom maps not downloading.

Try restarting Steam/game, joining a different server, testing a lobby without Workshop maps, and checking current Steam discussions for patch-specific issues.

Are custom maps required?

Not always. But some public lobbies may use Workshop maps. If a map download fails, you may not be able to join that match. Prefer Steam Workshop pages over random external downloads.

What is Reverse Chicken Race?

Steam News update2.4.0 says Reverse Chicken Race is a mode where players deduce a hidden player’s identity from their body paint, find them first, and earn points. Hiding players earn points by staying unnoticed, and the highest score wins.

The mode has received follow-up fixes, so check the current in-game wording and rules.

Is controller support available?

Steam News update2.5.0 says an experimental color palette was added for upcoming controller support. Treat full controller support as something to verify in the current game version rather than assuming it is complete.

Does the game support streaming?

Yes. Steam’s official description says gameplay videos and streaming are welcome. It says the game name must be included in the title, and adding the Steam store page URL in the description is optional.

What should I do about lag or crashes?

Players report lag, crashes, freezes, and map-loading issues in discussions/reviews. Official updates also mention fixes for lag when many players paint, AMD GPU decoy visuals, cloud-save fallback, and inaccessible server loading.

Practical steps:

  • Lower graphics settings.
  • Try official maps before Workshop maps.
  • Restart Steam/game.
  • Avoid overcrowded lobbies if your system is struggling.
  • Check recent Steam News and discussions for patch-specific issues.

Does the eyedropper copy everything?

Community paint guides warn that the eyedropper may not always copy full material settings. You may still need to adjust Metallic and Roughness manually.

What is the best hiding strategy?

Do not only chase exact color. Better camouflage usually combines:

  • close color match
  • believable material/roughness
  • low silhouette
  • correct lighting
  • a spot where your pose looks like part of the scene
